S. Valentino
S. Valentino alla Muta is the third village on the Reschenpass plateau.
It is situated on the lakeside of the idyllic Haidersee.
The latter used to be known as the Karthäusersee because it was owned by the eponymous monks in Schnals. It was here that Ulrich Primele founded a hospice for travellers along the pass way back in 1140.
From St. Valentin the Malser Haide gently slopes to the south, thereby clearing the way to the Vinschgau valley. The impressive panorama is dominated by the striking Ortler massif – at 3.905 m , this is the highest point in all of Tyrol.
